Bikaner Art & Culture Festival
The Bikaner Art & Culture Festival is committed to grow a discerning audience that is critical of the performing arts and who value the role that the performing arts can play as a catalyst for audiences to engage with broader societal issues. The Festival promotes and celebrates diverse performances that range from the classics to the contemporary. Productions of the highest quality are presented through a partnership with independently producing artists, central and state cultural academies, presenting companies, producers or performing arts managements.
Bikaner Art & Culture Festival of Rajasthan started in 2016 by the prestigious cultural non-for-profit organization Lokayan Sansthan. The festival is a magnificent hub of audiences and theatre performances from all over the country. First started in 2016, this is a 2-day festival held in the cultural capital of Rajasthan that hosts regional, national, independent and experimental works of contemporary and traditional art, theatre & culture of Rajasthan. A 15 day online festival in the times of Covid that featured discussions, art dialogues, a 360-degree virtual gallery tour exhibiting works of 100 artists, and cultural programmes with 200 performers. In 2024, the 3-days festival will bring together over 100 artists, theatre groups, musicians and craftsmen from different parts of Rajasthan in a unique celebration of folk traditions. This not-for-profit festival is jointly organized by the local residents of Bikaner and the Lokayan Sansthan. If we look at the line up of renowned theatre artists at previous year’s festival, we see Sanjana Kapoor, Nadira Babbar, Ratna Pathak Shah, Seema Bishwas and Makrand Deshpandey who have been part of this festival in past.
